Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first tablet (I know I'm late to the game) but I know absolutely nothing about Tablets, I was trying to decide between the shield tablet or the ipad air 2, I figured the better performance from the ipad 2 doesn't really justify the greater cost so i'm pretty set on the Shield. I'm just trying to decide whether I should buy the 16gb and an SD card or the 32gb one. I guess all i'm really wondering is whether or not the higher end games run well off of the SD card, anyone know? Thanks.

I was planning to get the SHIELD for Christmas, but I got a new mouse, keyboard, and router instead. It is currently the best gaming tablet of 2014. But since you've never had tablet, I'd go with something that's easy to use and popular. The Asus Nexus 7 would be a good start if you wanna give tablets a try. It is the perfect size for most people, only requires one hand to grip around it for reading or whatever. It is only $ 150-200 if you wanna give it a try. I have it and it is still working perfectly, still fast and clear. If you like it, you can upgrade to a newer and better one later for cheaper price since the price will go down.

I've used my brother's Ipad mini and my cousin's Surface pro for a while, but I thought that it's time I own my own, sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant I know nothing about them spec's wise. I know how to use them but I have no idea what components are good in tablets. I kind of have my mind set on the Shield because of the games you can play on it with the Nvidia programs. I'm just hoping someone knows something about running the games on the SD card if they bought the 16gb version.

Well, app games don't exactly take a lot to run or download, so you don't really need the 32GB, but if you have AT&T like I do and if you're going to download a lot of music or something, I think the extra $100 is worth in my opinion, I like getting the best when I buy stuff. When I talked to Nvidia, they said you can stream Steam games if you have a Nvidia GPU in your PC and play on your tablet, that's cool. Although I'm not sure why would anyone do that if you have the PC, lol. But for tablets, what you wanna look for is the things you want to use it for, such as if you wanna play games like you said, you want a fast processor and good image quality, that tablet has one of the best ones as of right now, so you're good on that. Size is also another thing, you don't wanna it to be too big like a huge table or too small like a phone, 8 inch is almost as perfect as 7 inches for perfect hand held. Also, you should look into battery life, you don't want it to die on it like every 4 hours, you'd want to get one that can last at least 8 hrs or higher. If you listen to music a lot, you should look into if it has great audio components. If you take a lot of pictures look for some high MP for the cameras that's installed on the tablet, but phones are probably better for it. Another thing tablets are great for is movies, I love watching movies on Netflix with my tablet, it's just a bigger screen than a phone if I don't have my PC with me, if you get the $400 one, you'll have 4G LTE and can use it online while outside the house, although I'm not sure if it's only AT&T. That's about all I can think of right now, but I hope it helped, I'll edit more if I can think of more, I haven't exactly been keeping up with the tablet world either, busy with my PC :)

ahhh, you have to pay a bill for the AT&T right? Like a phone? I'm more or less wondering whether or not games like Grand Theft Auto run well off the SD card.

I don't know about how that'll run since I've never played that game on any platform. But that is the best gaming tablet of right now, so you should've have much problems. The SD cards for just for storage, I don't think it has to do with performance stuff. I'm not sure if you'll have to pay the bills and stuff, here, maybe this article might tell you if you do. If you do, then never mind and go with the 16GB, but then again I don't think they'll make it mandatory for you to use the LTE network, so you can shut that off if you want and still have the 32GB storage. So it really depends on if you're going to download a lot of stuff, if so, get the 32GB, if not, 16GB will do.
