Hey guys,

Has anyone done any overclocking and 3dmark 05s with a 7600gt?

If so can you leave some details and scores?

P.S. have i made a mistake in buying a 7600GT 256 rather than a 7800?

Depends on the performance you are after.

3DMark '05 / '06 are not games, so if you get slow performance in them do you care ?

I mean, do people get together online, on a MP server, and see who can run 3DMark 05/06 the fastest ? - No (but some would if they could no doubt 😛)

If it runs your games fine, and cost what you wanted to spend then you've selected the right card for your requirements.

That all depends on what you're trying to do with this machine. If you are not a "heavy duty" gamer, who likes to run everything at extremely high res with all the eye candy goodness turned on, then you did quite well in picking a middle-of-the-road graphics card.

However, if you did want all that eye candy, then yes, you shot yourself in the foot buying that card. A single 7800GT would just about equal a pair of those 7600GTs in SLI, for whatever that's worth to you. A single 7900GT would be even faster.

But, as Tabris said, everyone's requirements are different. So, whether this card is right for you is really a question only you can answer.

oh no!!! can't believe it! i should have checked! god what have i done?! i thought the 7600gt will be slightly faster than a 6600gt and i thought that would be enough, but listening to you, it sounds like i've just wasted 160pounds. dame... should have brought a 7800 for 20pounds more! i'm never gonna forgive myself. i wish i had a gun.

Yeh UK we get screwed

7900gt is £250 = $435
7800gt is £180 = $313
7600gt is £150 = $261
x1900xt is £300 = $525

Stupid EU and its imposed VAT system. we get the privalage of paying and extra 17.5% more than the US.

I would say in the UK the sweet spot is the 7800gt, send the 7600 back if it hasnt been long since you got it.

You think you get screwed come to South Africa :x :x :x

7900GT = ????
7800GT = R3500 = 550 us$
x1800xl = R4500 = 700 us
6600gt = R2000 = 300 us

1 Gig corsiar xms single stick = R1500 = 250 us
1 gig kingston hyper x = R2000 =350 us

😀 Luckly I get most of my stuff from the US

Right! i don't have a gun, and i failed to kill myself by jumping out the window, probably because i live on the 1st floor... So i'm really thinking of sending the 7600gt back. but i'm not sure...

it's the BFG 7600GT 256, and i think it's slightly overclocked knowing BFG...

how much of a difference would there be between a 7600GT OC'ed and a stock 7800 do you think? give me a ratio... can drinking bleach kill you?

7600 has 12 pipes... the 7800 GT has 20... assuming same clock speeds, it'll be a massacre... with the 7600 sporting a higher clock speed that will help close the gap.

am i reading this right? the more pipes it has the faster, the higher clock it is the faster, and more ram it has the faster?
