According to <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/" target="_new">XbitLabs</A>, the new name for the NV38 chip, the successor of the current NV35 (5900 Ultra) will be the....(dumb..er...drum...roll please)

THE GEFORCE FX 5950 ULTRA!

and here everyone was complaining that the 9800XT was gay.

*sigh* poor Nvidia. Even their naming scheme makes them sound apathetic. I hope they snap out of this funk.

I think it's funny that one of the worst 9800's you can buy is the 9800 TX from dell...

And the best 9800 you can buy is the updoming 9800 XT.

I thought the TX was superior to that (just underclocked R9800np).

If nVidia targets the chip to sell for more than 2/3 the cost a Radeon 9800 Pro (which I'm sure they'll do) I'll be very VERY pissed. I doubt it will be able to come close to the 9700 non pro in DX9 - not even a 25% boost will do the trick.The 5950 sounds like its a sub-class of the 5900 series just by name. I know I sound very skeptical, but I've got reason to be.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!
