Nvidia's Threaded Optimization - What's The Best Value To INCREASE FPS ?

Hey guys, usually i don't post a question unless i don't find the answer anywhere else and this is exactly what happened right now, Nvidia's threaded optimization, which value (off, on, auto) gives you more FPS and which one gives you more SMOOTHNESS in a low end rig: (my laptop)
i3 6006u
4+4gb ram ddr4
geforce 940mx gddr5
i would also like to know which value gives more FPS and which one gives SMOOTH gameplay in my actual pc:
i7 8700k
8+8gb ram ddr4
gtx 980ti
i was reading in many threads and everyone says something different.
