Hi, A few days ago I upgraded to a Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080 and everything was running really smoothly. I've been playing Assassins Creed Valhalla without any problems, but today I've had 10+ crashes. Sometimes after a few hours, sometimes twenty minutes.

In Event Viewer, I get this message: The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: \Device\Video3 Error occurred on GPUID: 100 The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

and: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

CPU: i5 11400f
CPU cooler: bequiet! pure rock
Motherboard: asus prime b560m-a
Ram: 16gb ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10, DDR4, 3200MHz
SSD/HDD: 500gb samsung 980 m.2 nvme / 2th seagate sata3
GPU: gigabyte rtx 3070ti
PSU: corsair rm850 gold, not sure about age.
Chassis: bequiet pure base 500dx

I've found threads online of people with the same issue but no consensus on what causes it or what the solution might be. I've tried reinstalling drivers with DDU. I've tried rolling back to older drivers too, and verifying game files. But might it be a problem with the card itself?

Thanks

How old is the PSU in your build? Might want to see if you can source(borrow, not buy) a donor PSU that has more wattage and is reliably built, to rule out your PSU having issues with power delivery. You might also want to check and see that the power connector to the GPU is secure.

After a DDU of all your GPU drivers that are on your platform, are you installing the latest driver version in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Not sure about the PSU age, but I bought the pc pre-built just over a year ago. It had been running smoothly until I started getting some occasional artifacting, which turned out to be a problem with faulty RAM. So, I changed those last week as well.

I just installed the latest driver through GEFORCE experience. Is there a better way to do it?
