Issue with CROSSHAIR VIII HERO AND NVME M2_1

I have CROSSHAIR VIII HERO
CPU AMD 5900x
Asus TUF 3080 at slow PCIe 16x1
latest bios 4402
in BIOS NVME setting tried all (AUTO, GEN4 for PCEi 4.0 card and GEN3 for PCIe 3.0 card)

accourding to manual all these should be suported
PCIe x16_1 GPU x16 (PCIe 4.0)
M2_1 (PCIe mode) x4 (PCIe 4.0)
M2_2 (PCIe mode) x4 (PCIe 4.0)

Video card Asus 3080 in slot showing PCIe x16x1 and it is at PCIe 4.0
second nvme Samsung 970 at slot m2_2 and it works and showing PCIe 3.0 at 3x

but Kingston FURY Renegade at slot M2_1 only working at 2x PCIe 4.0
if I switch nvme cards then Samsung at slow M2_1 works at 1x PCIe 3.0
and Kingtson at M2_2 works at 4x PCIe 4.0

something for somehow wrong with slow M2.1 and not allowing the slot to work in full speed.

Do you have anything connected in other PCIe slots. M.2_1 PCIE lines are from CPU and M.2_2 from chipset and share lines with other PCIe slots.
Samsung 970 is V3.0. Check BIOS setting there might be a way to enable or disable v4.0 for each slot.

No other PCIe slots are used - only Video card at PCIe 1.1. no errors anywhere, everything is working fine (CPU, NVME) just NVME at 2_1 slot is at 2x speed PCIe 4.0 instead of 4x
for M.2 2_1 slot in BIOS 4.0 is enabled (since drive is 4.0), for M.2 2_2 Gen 3 is enables since drive is 3.0

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer's technical support for assistance with this problem? Additionally, have you checked to ensure that the Kingston FURY Renegade NVMe drive is compatible with your motherboard and is operating correctly? Make sure your Kingston FURY Renegade NVMe SSD is properly seated in the M2_1 slot. Sometimes an improperly seated SSD can cause issues with speed.
  1. Try updating the firmware on your Kingston FURY Renegade NVMe SSD. Sometimes a firmware update can fix compatibility issues with certain motherboards.
  2. Try clearing the CMOS on your motherboard. This will reset all BIOS settings to their default values, which can sometimes fix compatibility issues.
  3. Try disabling any other PCIe devices that are not essential, to ensure that there are no conflicts between devices sharing PCIe lanes.
  4. Contact ASUS support and explain the issue to them. They may have further troubleshooting steps or be able to offer a solution.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your M2 slot working properly.
