Evening community. I need some help with a m.2 ssd that I'm looking at. I'm interested in the Samsung 970 EVO(MZ-V7E250BW). The mobo I'm looking at is the ASUS Prime H370M-Plus. Does anyone know if this mobo will take advantage of the nvme speeds that the ssd offers? I want the most out of it. If the mobo doesn't support nvme would someone kindly point me to a mobo that will? I prefer ASUS. Thanks!

Solution
Nvme x4 is max speed and yes, you want to use that slot because the Samsung 970 is capable of x4 speeds. x2 will be half that speed and SATA is even slower.
Per Asus' specs, the mobo has two M.2 slots that support nvme:
1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 X2 mode)
1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)

You'll want to use the PCIE 3.0 x4 mode with the 970 Evo to the get the fastest speeds.

What's the difference with nvme 4x and 2x? I'll be using an i7-8700k.
So the x4 is what I'm supposed to be focusing on? Thanks!

Awesome thanks for helping me understand! I appreciate it.
