Hello guys, I'm new here! so, I have a Legion 5 15ARH05H which has these storage mods :
=> HDD/SSD mode: • One 2.5" drive slot, supports 2.5" SATA HDD • One M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3x4 slot, supports M.2 2242/2280 SSD
=> Dual SSD mode: • Two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3x4 slots, support M.2 PCIe 2242/2280 SSD
I got my laptop with the HDD/SSD mode, and I want to replace my HDD ( it's replaceable) with a 2280 SSD gen 4x4. what's the max read/speed I can expect? should I just buy a Gen 3x4 ssd? or go for the 4x4 gen? I got my eyes on an MSI spatium M480 1TO SSD 2280 M.2 gen 4x4 with 7000/5500 MB/s read/write for 184 euros, and the best option ( in my country) in gen 3x4 is a PNY CS3030 1TO SSD M.2 with 3500/3000 MB/s read/write speeds for 161 euros. sorry for my bad English and thanks a lot for your patience!

thanks a lot

You will be hard presses to tell which is faster, a sata ssd, a pcie3.0 nvme ssd, or a pcie 4 nvme ssd.

I am a big fan of the samsung ssd migration app.

Install any m.2 samsung and run the app to move your C drive to the ssd.
The ssd needs to be large enough to hold the used contents of your HDD with room to grow.
Yes, you will pay a bit more, but you will get one of the faster and more reliable devices.

Then you can remove or repurpose the hdd.
