Nvme is in legacy mode and I can't boot it in UEFI mode.

I did a complete windows reinstall onto my 970 evo with no problems, except that i noticed boot times were a bit slower than my previous ssd. I go online and people suggest going into bios and boot in uefi mode. But when i turn uefi mode on, it disables half of my boot options making my nvme ssd one of them. Also when I check windows information it says bios is in legacy mode. How can i change this? also is there other benefits to uefi mode besides faster boot times?
