I am about to build a new system. 12900k based. when I was picking up a 980pro, the person at microcenter told me to not do windows 11 due to issues with nvme drives or hdd's in general. after doing some research, it looks like there have been issues with write speeds. I really do not want to do a new build on windows 10 and then have to do a clean install in 3-6 months when these issues are fixed.

I have read that the windows updates have been improving the write speeds, but is it 100% fixed yet?

I have to be honest, I upgraded to W11 on my current 9900k system and didn't notice a difference. I use my pc for flight sim mainly (P3D / MSFS) and some other games some times.

Solution
have you noticed any performance issues? I am not exactly sure how this issue would affect gaming....... transferring a large amount of files, maybe different.
Exactly ZERO performance issues.

And game performance does not rely much on drive performance.
Once we moved beyond HDD, there isn't a lot of difference between the various flavors of SSD.
I have ZERO speed problems on my WIn 11 system, before and after the update he speaks of.
980 Pro and 660p, Ryzen 5 5600x, B550M Aorus Pro, Win 11 Pro

The 'before' was Dec 26 2021, the after is just now, Mar 4 2022.

Solution
Around 6 months ago during the Windows 11 beta period there were reports that some AMD cpus did not perform properly with nvme ssds. This problem was resolved shortly after it was reported and only affected AMD cpus. So since you're getting a 12900K its not relevant.
