Hello
I bought a new 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD and it wouldn't show up in the BIOS.
I have tried:
-putting it in again (I haven't tried switching it with my other SSD, just in case it's something solvable by BIOS)
-searching things online but I find my BIOS hard to navigate
-installing samsung NVMe driver, won't work because my pc cannot see it

My specs [windows 10]:
motherboard: Gigabyte B560 DS3H AC-Y1
processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz
video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

extra info/links:
I have never installed something for inside my PC, I got it off newegg [PC LINK]
[SSD LINK]

How can I solve this?

Which M.2 slot are you using for M.2 drive?
Note - upper M.2 slot (M2_P - closest to cpu) can not be used with your 10th gen cpu.
You can use only lower M.2 slot (M2_A).

If you have M2_A slot already occupied with another NVME drive, then you have no way of installing another NVME M.2 drive.
You could install M.2 PCIE adapter in one of free PCIE slots, but those all are x16 (x1 electrical) slots. Your M.2 drive would work at x1 speed (4 times slower than normal).
Or upgrade cpu to 11th gen. Then upper M.2 slot becomes available.

Have you looked for the new SSD in Device Manager?

Maybe you just require a bios update to the latest version for it too become recognized.

What rocktalkrock said, is a good way to check if the hardware is picked up by windows, regardless if it displays in the bios or not.

I had just recently had two gpu's installed in my pc simultaneously, and will you know the one didn't ever showup in the bios, but it was working in windows and discoverable in device manager.

Nope not here (Samsung SSD)

I searched online on how to do update BIOS and it seemed to lead into another loophole.. people attempting to update the motherboard I have are having issues. I myself cannot see the driver for my motherboard upon a quick google search (specifically looking for the ac-y1 at the end)

Well it's either the bios or uefi not uptodate, witch you will need to perform utilizing an spare usb pen drive with the downloaded file on and then boot into your bios with the intensions to update current bios, or you have a bothed samsung ssd drive witch you will need to rma.

At this point I can see anything from the information that you have given that might indicate otherwise, perhaps just a setting in your bios?

Here the link to your bios, the top one is the most up to date file, and the usb needs to be formatted properly with fat32 mbr:

The link you provided in your first post to the ABS Challenger Gaming PC lists the motherboard chipset as Intel B460M, not Intel B560. Is your PC an ABS Challenger ALI521?
How about we get the op to post a screen shot of the dxdiag, executed by running dxdiag in the run command through the start menu.

Suppose here the pc will tell what chip or motherboard it actually has.

It might even be this one then:

Hmm.. maybe the website updated it, I bought it 1-2 years ago, but I found the link to that site using my PC email receipt. If my BIOS really needs the update I'll try using the driver you guys send..

Then use this bios:

You'll need to format a usb with fat32 and mbr patition style, easily done in the This pc by right clicking the usb and selcting format, download and extract the bios file onto the usb and reboot your pc giong into the bios, then look for the key shortcut to press in the bios for the update to take place, if you can manage to complete this successfully your pc will restart a couple of times and might just pickup your missing drive right away afterwards.

I'll suggest to backup the current bios to the usb while you are in there, careful because if the update fails you might be without a working motherboard.

This review of a similar model to yours says the BIOS can be difficult to update.

ABS has gone with a Gigabyte B560 DS3H AC-Y1 motherboard for this build. That extra AC-Y1 modifier apparently makes this board an offshoot of the regular version, making the BIOS harder to update. There are a bunch of Reddit threads discussing this issue, with some people finding a solution via ABS or other custom PC makers. This isn't ideal, but it appears that the BIOS can be updated with some extra work. For many casual users the BIOS it ships with should work fine.

A few questions
Q1: I can't seem to find "mbr partition style" here:

Q2: Which BIOS do I download? I currently have F3 but the BIOS in the link you sent is F3c (and other F's) should I get that one?

Q3: How do I backup my current BIOS? I'm actually not a computer guy and I needed my friend installing an SSD

Q4: Losing my motherboard sounds risky for someone like me, so do you guys think I should try swapping SSD #1 with the new one and checking if it works swapped before I try risking my motherboard? I have already backed up important data dealing with this new SSD in case something went wrong.

It seems you're right my new SSD is on the one closest to the CPU (the top one) I will try swapping/replacing the old SSD.

I'm currently using the bottom slot with my current SSD. Will I have to reinstall Windows or save a backup on the new drive?

P.S. My friend was ecstatic to read this message because it seems you are right, we have stressed about this issue for 2 days... I hope this works.

Hello
I don't mean to hijack this as the last reply seems to be awhile ago, but i have pretty much the exact same computer as the poster. I have the same problem it seems. Will just downloading the top link on the bios update work for me as well? Bios, Device manager are not seeing it when its plugged in. Device manager only says. Samsung NVMe Controller Status.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The object was not found.

Im not seeing as how to post a picture on this as i usually dont use forums.

My computer from speccy.

The SSD is my os drive and its pugged into the power supply not the motherboard.
The other drive is pretty much steam games and full.
I bought the 970 evo plus 2tb NVMe M.2 SSD and have tried both slots on the motherboard. I have installed the driver from samsung.
I have not tried the bios update because i wasnt sure which one and didnt wanna fry my comp.

Here is the link that i got from manufacturer for my motherboard.

All help is appreciated I had a good friend who did computer stuff for me and taught me but i lost him to Covid and have been lost on computers since then.
