Question nvme on gigabyte ga-ax370 gaming

Is a samsung ssd980 nvme compatible with a gigabyte ga-ax370 gaming mobo? Their site lists up through a 970, but 980 is not there. I would think it would work, but I would like to be more sure

The slot on the motherboard will work with any PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe M.2 drive. Just make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard prior to dropping in any M.2 drive on it.

Be careful about which "980".

Samsung 980 is PCie 3.0.

Samsung 980 Pro is PCIe 4.0, and wasted performance on that motherboard.
