I am putting together a computer for general use and some gaming (old CPU is a 10 year old i3 530), This will be a Ryzen 5 2600 on a MSI B450 Carbon Pro. With some NVME drives like the Corsair MP510 960gb and HP ex920 1tb costing $150 does it make sense to buy one of those over a similarly priced SATA based $150 Samsung 860 Evo 1tb or Crucial MX500? I already have a Samsung 850 Evo 500 gb that I will throw in as a spare drive. This is mainly web browsing and light gaming..... and yes it's possible may last me 10 years again with an upgrade here and there.

If you had to balance speed vs. capacity than capacity should take precedence but if you don't than speed should be foremost although in real use it's hardly noticeable but nice to have. Reliability and longevity wise it's more up to make or model than to configuration.
M.2 drives are neater and easier to install, no wires and mess but not as easily removable. They are most probably the future as prices are getting about equal to SATA. Many new MBs come with 2 or even more M.2 mounts.

I budgeted $150 for the SSD. Since the Corsair MP510 NVME is the same price as the 860 Evo SSD, I think I will go with the MP%10. Thanks for your help.
