Hello i am planning to upgrade the ssd drive of my computer, I have a somewhat old rig and would like to know if it is compatible before buying.

Currently this is my setup

i7-4770
Asus GTX 780
Asus Maximus VI Hero

Here are the components i am planning to buy

Samsung Evo Plus NVMe SSD
NVMe Adapter

Straight up it seems that my setup is capable of handling the extra 4x since my board has and extra lanes for it. I am concerned with the cpu according to Samsung's nvme guide the cpu must be a haswell refresh. I know that my cpu is haswell, but i do not know what qualifies as refresh since google searched showed me that haswell refresh are label also as 4th gen iX-4XXX. So if anyone can help me it would be great.

Thank you in advance

oh my bad, Thank you for the info.

luckily it doesnt have to be my boot drive.

i have skimmed through the sources, and it would seem i have to sacrifice my gpu lanes. at my current GPU would the extra 8 lanes matter? i mean its fairly old. I am using a monitor that is 1080p, 144hz.

how would i check how much MB/s is my gpu using, i would like to know if i am maxing out the PCIe 3.0 8x 7880MB/s max.

Reading from this source it would seem it is negligble.
