I get 50-60 MB/s lower random write speed than the speeds shown in multiple reviews. The weird part is when run in safe mode the difference is only about 10mb/s. Any idea why speed is higher in safe mode?

Solution
Safe mode loads windows with a minimum of drivers.
Some devices, like Samsung have different nvme drivers.
So, it is possible to see differences because of the os.
I doubt this is an issue.

SSD benchmarks are not representative of what you will see.
The methods differ, but for consistency, many will start with a fresh ssd with maximum available nand blocks available for fast updates.

Solution
in Safe Mode you're also running the base setup, you're not loading the SSD dashboard and associated processes which also access the drive periodically for SMART and self-tests.
