[SOLVED] NVME SSD Undetected on M2._2 slot Asrock B450m Pro4

O.S: Windows 10
CPU: AMD Ryzen 2 2700x
Motherboard: Asrock B450m Pro4
BIOS: P1.60 - AMD AGESA PinnaclePI-AM4 1.0.0.4

Hi this is my first time building PC and I have just finished the build yesterday. I have checked the build in pcpartpicker.com for compatibility and then I proceeded with building the PC

I have two nvme Samsung Evo 970 EVO MZ-V7E250BW on ultra M2 slot and M2._2 slot. The one
on M2_2 always goes undetected. I have updated my BIOS to the latest version as per the one on Asrock B450M Pro4 website and I have also checked the UEFI storage menu and it has never detected the nvme on M2._2 slot

Since the M2._2 slot shares bandwidth with SATA3_3, I have put my two hard disks on SATA3_1 and SATA3_2. I have verified that my nvme drive is not broken (I have swapped the two the Samsung Evo 970 EVO MZ-V7E250BW between the ultra M2 and M2._2 and the one on M2._2 is always undetected). I am sure that the M2._2 port is also working fine, since when I have my HDD on SATA_3, the HDD goes undetected

Would appreciate if anyone has a clue to troubleshoot this

Thanks!

Solution
I think you have your two slots confused. And one of them ONLY supports SATA M.2 drives. So it would seem you have an extra NVME drive that you cannot use on that motherboard. ONLY the Ultra M.2 slot supports PCIe NVME drives. The other one does not.

- 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Summit Ridge, Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge) or Gen3 x2 (16 Gb/s) (with Athlon 2xxGE series APU)**

- 1 x M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module
