No.Is there any "noticeable" drawback on only having 1 SSD 2TB NVMe M.2 3.0 hard drive on a new build? I only have an old SSD EVO and haven't noticed any drawback on my last build. I hear guys using a 512mb as a boot. I don't think I'd need that.
No.
If you're satisfied with a single drive, there is no difference between SATA III SSD and NVMe SSD.
Many people prefer a single drive system. Other people, multiple drives.
Well, speed, yes.Other than speed right? 2-3000 vs 800?
The 980 pro is $10 cheaper than the traditionally evo. Which I'm still happy with dont get me wrong. But I was looking at the read and write speeds and thought read would boot programs/start up that much faster from a NVMe SSD this time around. Thank gentleman for the feedback. Always appreciate it here.

Be careful about the 980 vs 980 Pro.doesnt look any faster, but if its cheaper, why not then

Those are all PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives. Those are all NVMe SSD's right?
But no drawback being an NVMe, vs whatever he had previously.. SATA III or HDD.Nitpicky time.
With one disk if windows and whatever you are trying to run want to access the disk at the same time someone has to wait.
but on 4k, there is no diff between gen3 and gen4 driveBe careful about the 980 vs 980 Pro.
The "980" is still just a PCIe 3.0. Just like the 970 EVO and EVO Plus.
The 980 Pro is PCIe 4.0.
And trivially little difference over a SATA III SSD...😉but on 4k, there is no diff between gen3 and gen4 drive
The 'with one disk' applies to whatever type of disk is in use.But no drawback being an NVMe, vs whatever he had previously.. SATA III or HDD.
Exactly. The 'with one disk' applies to whatever type of disk is in use.
well technically nvme is 10x faster then sataAnd trivially little difference over a SATA III SSD...😉
My point being....all the marketing text calls the NVMe drives to be 5x or 10x faster than a SATA III SSD.
That only speaks to the sequential number. But that is what people glom on to.
In actual use, not so much.
