Is there any "noticeable" drawback on only having 1 SSD 2TB NVMe M.2 3.0 hard drive on a new build? I only have an old SSD EVO and haven't noticed any drawback on my last build. I hear guys using a 512mb as a boot. I don't think I'd need that.

No.

If you're satisfied with a single drive, there is no difference between SATA III SSD and NVMe SSD.
Many people prefer a single drive system. Other people, multiple drives.

The 980 pro is $10 cheaper than the traditionally evo. Which I'm still happy with dont get me wrong. But I was looking at the read and write speeds and thought read would boot programs/start up that much faster from a NVMe SSD this time around. Thank gentleman for the feedback. Always appreciate it here.

I also have a 980 Pro as the OS drive.

The big sequential number is NOT what you need to look at.

Here are two drives in my system. 1TB 980 Pro (Gen 4.0 NVMe) and 1TB 860 EVO (SATA III)

The comparison numbers you need to look at are the bottom 2 lines, not the top one.

The main benefit of an SSD is the near zero access time. Which is across ALL SSD types.

Nitpicky time.

With one disk if windows and whatever you are trying to run want to access the disk at the same time someone has to wait.
