I know I'm gonna try it. Just ordered 1.6A & TH7II-R. Just in case, I found the 47K pot mod also.

Would the processor not seat properly from the hard wire, thereby affecting the contact w/heatsink?

I don't think so, just use a magnifying lamp(if you have one) and turn the mobo so that when you insert the cpu the loop wont fall off.
