NWN customization question for the experts...

Here's my dilemma: I'm trying to create a male half-elven bard, but the
game defaults to the dozen or so 'human' heads/faces when customizing
your character's appearance in the creation sequence. I'd like to use
on of the elf male heads (specifically the bearded elf), but of course,
you need top select 'elf' as your race to get this selection of heads.
Should,'t half-elves have access to both racial head selections?
I've tried looking for various haks and override files at NWVault that
allow you to place in extra head/faces at character creation, but
haven't seen the exact elf head I'm looking for. I'm guessing I will
have to extract the correct file from one of the game resources and
place it in override...but I have no clue as to which resource file
might have the characted head models or what to use to extract it. Can
anybody offer some advice?

That's a bit odd though - my female half elf had pointy-eared heads to
choose from.

I suggest yusing the PrC character creator and turning off race specific
heads.

Thanks for the advice! I installed the PRC, v2.3c, and created a
character but...no option to turn off the race specific heads. Is there
a config utility or file in the PRC package that allows this option?

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I go into character creation on my game ALL portraits (for the chosen gender) are
available regardless of which race I picked. The "preferred" portraits for the chosen race are just sorted to the top
of this list.

The poster is asking about the character model heads, not the portraits.

Yes, of course, you're right...all 'portraits' are available, with the
selected race appearing first in the list. I'm asking about the
character head models that you select last in the creation process, when
you also asssign a voice,body type and/or clothing and a name....

Sorry, misinterpreted question. Tghe last PrC commnets were to use the
toolset to select the head you want - I myself do not how this is done.

You can use the Advanced Editor feature of the editor Leto, which is
available on NW Vault. Open your character with Leto, and select Tools ->
Advanced Editor. Then scroll down until you find Appearance_Type and change
the number to 1 (which is the elf-appearance), and then change the number of
Appearance_Head to the number of the head you want - the easiest way to find
out the number is to open whichever mod in the toolset, open a character and
set his appearance to elf, give him the head you like and see what number it
has in the list.

I'm currently playing a character named Ichabod Crane because I created
him with a CEP module and forgot. Now when I run him through non CEP
modules he has no head whatsoever. It's quite freaky looking but kinda
fun. Sadly (and oddly), mind-based spells still have effect. 😛


- Sheldon, who wishes all the CEP model components
would work in all modules including the OC/SoU/HotU
