NWN Question

The number of times I have started a game, I have found that in NWN the
NPC's range generally from bad to useless. Most often they end up getting
killed in mid battle, since they refuse to respond to my suggestions.

My question is this: In the LONG run (by the end of the game) what is the
best way to level up a PC? Straight class (e.g. fighter only)? Multi-class
(e.g. fighter/thief/healer)? Some other combination.

Just interested in what other folk have found to work best.

I found this at first, but as you get used to the interface, it is not as
bad. I was frustrated at first, as I expected something along the lines of
BG's total control.

I've not played through the expansions as yet, but my view on it is, it
depends what you want. Personally, I stayed single class, but I have seen
some very interesting takes on multiclassing that definitely offer
advantages. Run a google group search on alt.games.never-winternights and I
expect you will find a lot of ideas.
