Hey, I got a nzxt h1 and msi gaming x 1080ti(used) (325x140) recently. the gpu would definitely not fit. would it be okay if just keep it open case and keep gpu on something to avoid force on riser cable. any suggestions will definitely help. thanks in advance.

Solution
The specs on the case show 305-128mm or 265-145mm gpu clearance.
If you love the case, you can get good value from a GTX1080ti and buy a card that fits.

Of more importance might be the riser card issue.
Apparently the case was withdrawn until the fire hazard from the riser card was fixed.
One option you have is to return the case.
I think that is what I would do.
GTX1080ti is such a good card that I would build around it.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You're question would be better understood if you could parse a video or even a couple of images of why the GPU isn't fitting in the chassis. There's only so much that can be explained via text that you need the aid of other modes of communication.

The riser cable doesn't allow the GPU to be mounted outside the case, so the option of externally mounting it is out of the question. Also, that route defeats the purpose of buying a case in the first place. You could breadboard everything without using the H1.

I just want to use the pc before I get a replacement gpu( probably under 2 weeks). Just want to know any risks I might overlook. am planning to just keep some support under gpu and keep the case open.

here's a reference image for the build:
