Hi all,

I've done searching on these forums and around Google and have found similar questions asked but don't know if I have the exact answer to my question so if y'all don't mind I'd like to double check here.

The NZXT Hue+ controller. Can I plug any old LEDs into it? Reason for wanting to do this is I have the following case:

And the lighting on the front infinity panel connects via the usual 4-pin led connector (black, green, red, blue), I want to connect the builtin LED strips to a different controller because the software that comes with the case is the worst I've ever seen, and the infinity panel on the front could really be set off with a few lighting effects that the Hue+ supports.

So basically can you only use the NZXT led strips, or can you plug in ones from a case?

Thanks.

Solution
The NZXT Hue strips are +5V LED Strips. Most case LED strips and other LED components uses +12V. Also they are not compatible with NZXT's CAM software.

You may have to get a dedicated LED controller for the other LED systems you will install apart from the NZXT Hue+ system.

That's really informative, thanks. Do you have an example of and LED controller? I'm just trying to work out if you're talking about a PCI express card or something?

Check out Blinkytape. Has its own built in controller onto the tape itself and includes multiple modes. It also comes with software to do your own custom stuff. Never used it but heard good things! Only annoying piece would be removing your existing LEDs from the case.

ok, if i bought an normal 5V led strips (https://goo.gl/D5uxLq) is there a way to make it work with NZXT hue+ ?
