I've just built my latest PC and the CPU cooler is:

NZXT Kraken Elite 240 RGB - RL-KR24E-B1 - 240mm AIO CPU Liquid Cooler

I was able to set the custom lights and display and have it run. The problem I have is during playing a game, after a while the cooler just disconnects with the USB sound prompting me of it disconnecting. It doesn't show up in the Cam software and I can't reconnect to it. So far I have tried disabling USB Selective Suspend Settings in the power plan so far. It hasn't worked.

Is the PC thermal throttling after the fans turn off? The fans could be turning off because the PC is telling them temperatures are not high enough to justify keeping them on.

Check your BIOS settings, since that's where your fan curve will be located. Run the calibration and see if it fixes your issue. You could alternatively set them to a set speed, but that would mean they would run at that speed from the second the PC turns on to the second it turns off.

I'm having the same issue with my NZXT KRAKEN 360 ELITE. The sound of disconnecting a USB is followed by the AIO going completely blank (only RGB works). I have to power cycle the PC to make it start working again.

Could you please let me know if you found a solution/replaced the AIO with a new one?

I've already tried:
  1. Removing NZXT Kraken drivers from the device manager, cleaning the Windows registry from the NZXT software, and reinstalling NZXT CAM software
  2. Flashing BIOS with the latest firmware.
  3. Correcting Kraken's pin connection to CPU_FUN from AIO_PUMP
  4. Disabling USB Selective Suspend Settings in the power plan
  5. Replacing the SATA cable powering both the AIO and NZXT RGB controller
  6. Switching the USB-2.0 header connection for the AIO (My MOBO provides 2x USB-2.0 headers)
  7. Disabled any additional software that could interfere with NZXT

I've tried pretty much all the things you tried.

I lucked out and bought a replacement - Amazon were kind to replace it for free provided I send back the old one. after installing the new cooler, everything runs fine.
