NZXT Kraken M22 120mm VS Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Which is going to cool better?

If Kraken, is the difference worth double the cost of the 212 Evo?

Ryzen 5 3600

Hyper212 needs 159mm if your case has a restrictive size.

On balance, a air cooler with a 120mm fan is going to be comparable to a aio cooler with a 120mm radiator.
The difference is where the heat exchange takes place.

If I have a problem with the hyper212 it is that it is not easy to mount well.
Even as an experienced builder, I had a hard time getting it right.
In the 120mm air cooler class, look at the scythe kotetsu.

The new Hyper 212 (RGB/Black) use a mounting system that integrates on the sides of the CPU base plate rather than the cantilever style of the older 212 models. The new 212's are a lot easier to install than the older ones.

I liked the Kotetsu and also the Choten; both are really marketed at mid-range builds that aren't utilizing a high overclock or more than 4 CPU cores, or non-overclocked i7/i9/Ryzen 9 builds.

Do you know if i will need any additional mounting hardware for the Evo?
