Bethesda are keeping quiet about it for the moment, but they use
the words "Quite a while" when saying when they will announce a release
date so I very much doubt it will be before Christmas.

According to an article in Game Informer, the earliest it will be out is
2005.

Yes! (But remember that I didn't say which Christmas! :)

Seriously, though, Bethesda are aiming for Christmas 2005. Which means
that (if they do a rushed job which freezes every ten or twenty steps,
like Morrowind,) it will be out by Christmas 2006! 🙁

Actually it makes more money to put out a freezing shoddy game. Because
everyone will then buy a "Game of the Year" edition in the hope it
won't freeze, and when it still does they can put out a "Game of the
Decade" version of Morrowind and Oblivion together, which will finally
contain and intelligently coded Morrowind which doesn't freeze. Thus,
we've all paid three times the price of the original game. Clever
marketing, eh?

LOL! Just like with the DVDs.

Lord or the Rungs new improved remastered collectors ultra platinum
directors cut edition, with 30sec of deleted never before seen material,
and bonus disk containing the directors vacation slides, and a special
short of studio executives rolling naked in money, while they laugh
at you for buying a 4th rerelease of this same movie. :)
