Hello all,

I apologize for another thread on this. I did look through the other threads first to try and find a solution but none of them worked. :(

I am wanting to get into YouTube and downloaded OBS to get started. However I cant seem to get a stable recording. I was hoping to get some help. For reference I have an I5-6500 CPU and a RX 480 4gb. From what I’ve read it’s more than good enough to record at 1080p and 60 FPS.

So far I’ve played around with the bit rate a lot and if I set it at like 10,000 it is stable but looks terrible. Going higher really stutters. I tried working with 30 FPS and that’s about the same. I’ve tried downscaling and using other video formats (mp4 is what I’m going for). I’ve set the priority to high for OBS as well. I’ve tried the AMD settings it gives me in OBS too but that’s not working either. I feel like I’ve really played around with the settings a ton.

For your reference as well, I did notice my computer was loading a bit slower today so I ran a disk defrag just barely (which usually fixes that sort of thing) and my disk was apparently fragmented to 24% :/. Do you think that’s why it was so laggy? Just checking now and the fragmentation is at 0% Now it’s optimizing which will take some time. Is this one of those things that will just fix once that’s defragged? Or do I need to take other steps?

Thanks for the help!

Edit: I’ve tried recording Dark Souls 3, Fortnite, and Cuphead. All the same outcome

I have been trying to figure this issue out myself. You would think that there would be a simple easy fix or tutorial on this. I have a i78700k and a gtx 1080. I feel that I have tried everything
