OBS uses 90+% of my CPU

I have the intel core i7 6700k processor, which should be a beast for streaming to twitch, but when I start streaming my CPU usage spikes to 90+%

My settings are as follows:

Resolution downscale: None
FPS: 60
Use multithread Optimizations: Yes
Process Priority Class: Normal
Scene Buffering Time: 700
x264 CPU Preset: Fast
Encoding Profile: Main
Keyframe Interval: 2
Use CFR: Yes

Anyone know what might be causing the extreme CPU usage?

You should not change x264 cpu preset. Try veryfast option.

The quality of the picture drops significantly if its set to anything else.... I'm not arguing that this is the issue because it probably is... How do I get a better picture quality?

Try different bitrate, 720p/60fps, 1080p/30fps. Faster/veryfast preset. Maybe even custom x264 setting. You better check OBS forum for further info.

I've been trying to get OBS to work properly and have a good quality pickture...
I have no clue what I'm doing or what any of the settings mean/do, so can someone recommend settings for me? My PC specs are as follows:

Intel i7 6700k processor

EVGA GTX 1070 SuperClocked

ASUS z170-a Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3000 ram

And I'm not sure if anything else is important to the streaming quality so suggestions would be helpful, thanks
