Ok so here's my problem... I'm a youtuber and I want to get into making videos with my OBSbot tiny Facecam. Well when I plug my camera into my computer and the display shows up in OBS it glitches and freaks out... I figured, maybe buying a video capture card could solve the problem. So my capture card comes in and i realize i cant plug my Facecam into it because it's a USB-C to USB. The capture card only takes HDMI as its input. In frustration, I drive to Walmart and pickup a USB-C to HDMI cable thinking this will solve my problem. Boy was I wrong. I plug the USB-C/HDMI cable into the capture card and then plug the capture card into the computer. Well now my the camera won't even power on.

Thinking it's just a problem with the capture card, I plug the camera with the HDMI end DIRECTLY into the computer and it STILL wont power on... WHAT IS GOING ON? I just wanted to fix my camera from glitching while recording and now im stuck in this loophole of buying stuff that doesn't fix my issue. I will note that when I plug my capture card in it does recognize it as "USB Video Device". Not sure if that matters or not. Please give me some direction on where to go from here. I'm completely lost...

Begin by updating your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Going to the beginning of things:

"Well when I plug my camera into my computer and the display shows up in OBS it glitches and freaks out..."

Do over

Remove/uninstall etc. the other purchased devices.

Which model OBSbot camera?

Start by verifying that the applicable drivers were downloaded, properly installed and configured.

Hopefully just some error of omission or commission.

Incidentally, I think the next proper thing to test is not an HDMI capture card, but instead an externally powered USB HUB. USB signal quality is a very complicated topic, and some mixes of otherwise 100% functional components will fail due to signal quality. A HUB can sometimes act as an adapter of sorts and change signal quality issues. External power is important because (A) more power becomes available to the camera, and (B) often power regulation issues when being provided by the mobo of the USB can get in the way.

Also, I think probably there are more drivers involved in the HDMI capture than you know. The PCIe slot driver for the capture card is just one of them. A true HDMI camera is probably already set up with whatever install you performed on the HDMI, but a USB camera does not become HDMI just because the cable got spliced in for it. The capture card would have to understand the different wiring and driver requirements. Then a different driver would have to be added to make that "adapter" function from USB camera to HDMI.

Idk what changed but you are absolutely right, once I uninstalled the OBSbot program and then deleted any drives for it and then reinstalled all of it, it immediately fixed my problem. You just saved me from going insane! Thank you so much bro!
