My cpu is about 2 years onld now. Does age affect an OC and the stability?

P4 2.8 @533 buss.

I was thinking... I could buy a new motherboad and some 3200 chips and run this sucker at 200fsb. Mabie even faster if my pc allows it. I figure it would be a nice cheap upgrade. New features on the mobo would come in handy later with a still good proc.

No, the age won't affect anything.

The odds of you getting that puppy up to 200FSB are zilch. That would be 4.2Ghz, and P4B chips just don't clock that high (unless you have a bath full of liquid nitrogen that is).

You might be able to get up near 166FSB, if that, and your current mobo will probably allow just as much of an overclock anyway.

HAHA .. I didnt think so. But a small overclock would realy help. How do you find out the clock of this chip? Is it the multiplier * buss?

Also.. The chip has ben in concstant use for 2 years.

I would try for 160 fsb at 1.55-1.6 volts, a relatively safe overclock that will work with any heatsink, including the stock Intel variety. That's the setting I use for my 2.4b, and it's so stable that I can format and reload windows without any problems. That's with an 865pe board. If you have an sis or via chipset board, you may have to settle for 150 fsb.
