OC athlon without closed bridges?

I tried to increase the multiplyer of my new athlon system to see if I didn't buy an ODed one.
and the multiplier seemed to be adjustable, so i checked the bridges but they were'nt closed.
how is this possible I thought you have to close the briges to be able to change the multiplyer?

You can change the multiplier all you want in the bios, but it will only have an effect if the cpu is unlocked.
