Hi, as the title says im trying to use the OC button on my z370 aorus gaming 7 motherboard to OC my 8700k but for some reason it doesn't light up when i press it. Do I have to press it while the pc is still on? I don't know anything about manual overclocking nor do I want to mess with that myself right now, I just want that oc button to work. Is there a way to enable it from the bios? Any suggestions?

specs
i7 8700k
msi rtx 3080 gaming z trio
16gb ram
aorus gaming 7 mobo

Telling him to please try to stick to the question I asked isn't dictatorial by any means and he's still allowed to post again on here talking about whatever he wants obviously. Saying "do things the way I like to do it or don't do it at all" on the other hand...
The problem with the overclock button is it adds way to much voltage to the parts. This is on purpose since all chips react different to overclocking adding more volts than is needed makes more of the lower quality chips stable.

The reason I say this is because of the number of post I have seen here that starts with I pushed the OC button now my PC will not boot.

EDIT And no I can't order you to do anything were on the web LOL and I have no clue who you are.
My...
PC needs to be on for it to work, I believe

what the button will do is a "safe' overclock. it will keep voltage the same or minimally higher and will push the clock speed up just enough to see some gains. but it won't stress the system much nor try for any records. i use it on my MSI gaming 5 and it took my 4690k from stock 3.5 ghz (3.9 turbo) to about 4.2 ghz. keeps it cool and running strong with the small bit of OC. never bothered to manually OC it as this was high enough for me to not bother with a manual OC.

Are you sure about that? is that safe to do? or is there a way to just turn it on from the bios? I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything.

You are perfectly free to ignore Zerk2012's advice, but you are not free to order people to only give you the advice related to your situation that you wish to hear.

Zerk is also free to order me to "do things the way I like to do it or don't do it at all" ok, noted. The question was regarding why the OC button isn't working and how I could get it to work, not whether I should or shouldn't use it. I already know that its wasteful to use the OC button and I would like to use it anyway because I do not want to manually overlock as I've already indicated in my original post.

People are donating their time to read your problem, consider your problem, and provide advice about how to go or not go about resolving that problem. Being civil to others, even when they tell you something you do not wish to hear, is not negotiable.

He advised you it was a bad idea. That's not off-topic and people are allowed to do it.

My original statement still stands. It's not the way I like, it's the right way their a difference.

Since nobody here has been able to help feel free to call GB support for more information.
