OC Genie on MSI Z97 gives me blue screens

Hi all

I’m not sure if this is a motherboard problem but would like some clarification

Whenever I enable OC Genie in the bios which is a handy overclock button on the MSI Z97 GAMING 5 1150 mobo, I get blue screens on startup but then runs perfect after

Some typical blue screens are

IRQL not less or equal
Kernel security check failure <- a lot

I’ve updated all my drivers to the latest and tried multiple fixes for the blue screens

If I turn off OC Genie the PC is fine

Overclock software/code from the BIOS are usually no good. Don't work on all motherboards and CPUs.

Have you updated the BIOS? That *might* help.

Cheers Satan, yes I have updated the firmware to the latest for my board, everything’s up to date i just can’t get my head around blue screens

No problem, yeah BSODs are weird that way. Maybe you can try manual OC according to numerous guides around?

BTW (just to make sure) what's the CPU?

Overclock the right way in BIOS not with software.
