I just got done OC after using guru 2. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a beginners tutorial on overclocking and using this tool specifically. I specifically need to know how to use target power consumption and the basic measure to safe guard from damaging my gpu.

Solution
First know that GPU OC is risky always but its worth it

The target power consumption (%) put it in the max value

For a mild/safe OC dont increase core voltage cause thats the most risky option to tweak...

Put the gpu fans on around 40-50%

Run valley benchmark and check your score

Then increase memory clock by +100 and run valley until you see instability (artifacts bsod) and check if the score starts getting less as you increase memory clock

When you notice it decreasing your score decrease it by a bit

Then start increasing core clock by +5 every time. When you find instability either increase core voltage to increase the clock more or decrease your memory clock by a bit so you can increasae your core clock more. But if you...

But if you want stability with same voltage and memory clock just decrease the core clock by 5

Generally some games benefit from higher core clock or memory clock So just see which configuration gives you more Frames on each game

Then run all your games for soem time to see if the OC is stable in the games

Then Download OCCT and tick the error check and run the GPU test..

😉 I hope you have a good PSU..

And I wouldnt advise letting any gpu reaching more like 75c

Solution

Thanks for the advice. This is what I ended up with. Hopefully I can get some feedback.

+0 to voltage
+250 coreclock
110% power limit
7.2ghz (7.0 is stock)
temps max out at 70 degrees under load

So the core clock is 1250 base clock but it is constantly turbo clocked up to 1490. I tried to get it at 1500 and it wierded me out because I found that if I increased the voltage it would increase my clock speed to 1514 but it wouldn't boost it to 1514 if I increased power limit to 130% but left the voltage the same so it confused me and crashed once out of about 10 tests so I just downed it to 1490 again. My PSU is pretty decent 850 watt consair 80 plus gold. This was my first attempt ever overclocking. How did I do for a safe overclock?
