Hello,

I'm a first time poster, non native english speaker so please bear with me 😀

I'm kind of new to overclocking.. just bought my first system which I intend to overclock. My question is not focused only at VGA tho, it's more about general overclocking... but since this forum seems to have such good knowledge people, I gave it a shot :)
I was wondering if the dangers of overclocking, lets say a video card or a cpu is only "heat related" or does the voltage actually plays a role?
I know that if you increase the voltage, you increase the heat but if you keep your video card or CPU well cooled, does it matter what is the actual voltage?
Like a video card running at 60 non-OC VS a video card running at 60 overclocked of 15%, are they, in general, going to last the same?

Tell me if I'm not clear please 😀

Thank you!

Well all of my OC's are done on stock volts for CPU/RAM'Chipset and I use Thermalright coolers so my OC temps are lower than "stock temps" with a boxed cooler.

I can say that a proper PSU will make a differance as my OC' are often allways higher than the same CPU/RAM/MB with a less "clean" PSU's that most people use...and unlike most I never need a voltage change.

hardware lasting depends on many factors

yes; cooling is important - provided you can remove the heat uping the
voltage is in many cases necessary to achieve a high stable overclock.

you need to know how far to push it, as even on water you can seriously mess something up.

there's only one danger = you rig. you can either safely increase performance or destroy something vital..... your choice.

that said; if you new to overclocking and want to get serious, I always
recommend starting out on older equipment. if your building a new machine, take your previous components and begin experimenting.... not only that but read more forums (kinda like this one) relating to your specifics to gain more insight that you dont pick up along the way. pay close attention to what people have to say.
