Hello,
I wanted to OC my i2500k and my hardware store recommended the Zalman CNPS7X LED. They installed it but when i got home and ran some IntelBurn tests i got this:

40x multiplier(4Ghz) will start to go over 80 degrees C in the 1st test if its set at maximum(out of 10, i was told to test it 10 times) If i set it at standard it can do 10 tests with the temp touching 80 for a few seconds.

I stopped testing because as far as i know its a bad idea to go over 80...
Did they give me poor advice or did they not install it properly?

I was a bit disappointing i even told them that i could go higher on the price... they said its enough and that it will work.

I`m planning to call them tomorrow but i wanted to make sure i`m testing it right.

1.28 is pretty high for only a 4GHz overclock. My 4670K at 4GHz is only at 1.111. I'm pretty sure you can lower it and get cooler temperatures.
The idle temperature is 40ish C, 38 C at core 1 and 46 at core 4, i also noticed that the difference between core 1 and 3 can be 10-12 degrees C under load. I have no idea how it was before with the stock cooler as i never tested it...

Idle temps seem pretty high. When I tested my 4670K at 4GHz it idled in the low 30C's.

By the way, what CPU Vcore are you using for 4GHz?

1.28, i found a guide to OC it as i did not want to damage the CPU and it said 1.28. I`m so pissed first they sold me the wrong cooler that did not fit and now this...

You were right i now have it @ 1.18 and 4.1Ghz i did 6 runs at maximum and it stayed at 70 C with a peak at 73 C. I might be able to go a bit lower i think i`ll try tomorrow... thank you for the help!
