First i would like to apologize about this topic that been discussed like trillion times.
but after reading lots of guides and the messages posted here i could not quite figure it out by my self i got lost in all the (new to me)terms (vin vring vcore and so on...)

for the last 5-6 years i was running a e8400 and a 800mhz ddr2 memory in 1:1 ratio (cpu was oc to 3.6 ghz) and ocing that cpu was quite easy and clear to me.

yesterday i purchased and new rig:
1.MOBO gigabyte z87 d3hp
2.CPU intel 4770k
3.GPU asus gtx 760 CU II
4.Memory 2x8gb g.skill 1866 mhz(F3-1866c9d-16gxm)(cl9-10-9-28)
5.SSD intel 530series 240gb
kept my old cooling (freezer 7 pro)
6.PSU corsair 550W
most of the time i use my pc for just internet and movies
but from time to time i play games, Create and edit music, videos, photos etc.

currently i use all the default setting in bios cpu at 3.5 ghz
and only activated the xmp profile for the memory.

would i gain any performance if i oc my cpu to 4/4.2 ghz?
in gaming?
overall usage (winrar, loadings and so on)?
editing/rendering speeds?
what settings would you suggest running my system with my cpu and memory?

thanks in advance.
Rsini.

I have an air cooler (CoolerMaster V8) on my 4770K and I didn't have to do any voltage tweaking. All I did was raise the core multiplier in the bios to 42, and it was good to go @ 4.2GHz. If you want to go down to 4.0Ghz, do 40. I haven't tested my luck with going higher than that since I don't feel the need in investing in expensive water cooling setups.
1.In case i want to go easy on the overclock maybe even without voltage tweaking what setting would you suggest for my gear?

2.what the most common oc with similar gear?
