Well I posted this in the AMD forum but apparently barely anyone goes there, so I thought I'd post this again here and hope for some answers. Thanks!

Greetings everyone. I just built a new rig as detailed in my sig. I wasn't originally planning on overclocking at all, but now I think I want to know if I can OC to 4800 speeds.

First question: Do you think this is possible with my setup?

Second question: Would that be a mild, moderate, or extreme overclock?

Third question: Assuming that it is possible, how would I go about doing it?

I am currently using stock cooling with Arctic Silver 5 thermal greese. My power supply is a OCZ Modstream 520.

Please help this newb get started into the world of overclocking. Thanks!

P.S. Oh yeah, I don't know if it matters, but I am currently running 5 80mm case fans. Two front intake, two rear exsaust, and one side intake directly on to the PCI cards. As for temps, last I checked I run about 30C at idle and 38 - 40C load (load is playing bf2 and copying mp3's over the lan in the background.

I would consider it to be a moderate overclock and it should be fairly simple to do. You may need to loosin your timings if the system is unstable and either doesnt boot up or doesnt stay booted up once you get everything up and running. All you have to do to get to the 4800+ speed would be to raise your HTT speed from 200 to 220. This should be able to be done on stock volts if not 1.4v should be fine. The final result should be 2.42ghz with HTT speed at 1100mhz (2200mhz effective). Your mem will be running at 440mhz DDR speed, which with my memory has to be set a (3-4-4-5) to achieve. Your ram is probably better for OC'ing than mine and if it cant handle it on (2-3-3-6) then you should try (2.5-3-3-6) and if not just keep going trial and error until you get a stable setting, which shouldnt be to much higher than what you are already at. Good luck and happy OC'ing!!!
