So my i7 8700k will not go above 3.6ghz even though the base clock is 3.7 ghz. I have tried updating to the most recent bios, running motherboard preset 5.0ghz OC, running my own OC that i had at 4.9ghz that was stable and cool last time i ran stress tests about 5 months ago and now its stuck at 3.6.
System Specs:
i7 8700k
ASUS z370-f gaming motherboard
2x16gb of 3600mhz ram

i have also tried using intel extreme tuning utility and still not working. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you reset the bios back to default ?
There is an option in the bios menu, F5 i think.
Once done you can redo your overclock,
You might have some settings that its limiting your cpu set up, that you are not aware of,
Like low volatage, turbo set off, could be anything,
Reset your motherboard to default and reboot to run at stock, it should then go back to base settings ?

Did that work?
