A couple months ago I bought this my system with the intention of ocing it. i am fairly new to overclocking but still ha d bit of an idea what to look out for. The Problem is that when i change the fsb even from 200 t0 205 and try to restart it all of the sudden wont recognize my hard drive. tells me theres not valid boot disk.
this is what ive got.
Abit IC7 Max3
Ultra pc4000 ram 2x512
P4 3.0E
my other issue is that in my abit EQ it reads the vcore as being fairly steady, but in cpu-z it jumps around a lot 1.36, 1.39, 1.40. that kind of thing.
any suggestions what the problem is? the power rating that is rated 12+ always hovers around 11.7 is this a normal number? thanks to anyone who can offer help

Disable PAT before increasing FSB. This makes system more stable when overclocking.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>

It should be right next to pot.

No, seriously - don't you think you'd better look up a bit more info on forums etc. before you ruin your system? You void your warranty when you overclock, so you can throw (CPU 200 MB 200 RAM 200) 600$ just away like that... Shame.

If you knew the least bit about OC, you should have known that one of the most important parts to OC is the power supply. I hope you've got a good one (enermax, tagan, ...).

Well my power supply is a 480watt supply made by a company called mutant mods, its called the reactor. Ive read good things about the company and it cost a fair amount. My temps run around 45 celsius but ihave read abit boards report everything a lil high, and i know scotties just run hot in general. I just wanna know how to disable PAT, I am aware of that it might do, if it fries it.. ill just but athlon 64 like i wanna.
