Hi, I'd like to overclock my q6600 to 3GHZ-3.2GHZ.
My RAM is 2x2GB A-Data DDR2 800Mhz CL4 4-4-4-12 so there should be no problems with it

What I would like to know is whether it's safe to overclock to these values with this cooler TTC-NK34TZ, these are the min & max temps the machine has from both gaming + idling today.

My question is if I should buy a better cooler before OCing or if these temps are "okay".

Thanks for your time.

Okay, you have a great chip for OC'ing in the GO - Q6600 (its the same as mine) and also your mobo, is perhaps the best one for OC'ing that chip. Great news.

Bad news is, with your existing cooler, you have highish temps already. I wouldn't recommend OC'ing just yet...

To get your 2.4 Q6600 to 3ghz is easy, with your mobo and CPU. You simply have to change your ram frequency from 266mhz (FSB 1066mhz quad) to 333mhz (FSB 1333 quad) which gets you to 3ghz. You shouldn't even need a voltage increase on the CPU for that. With the right cooler, you could prob push the OC to about 3.6 which would be the max value of 400mhz for your ram. But as mentioned you need a really good cooler for 3.6, and voltage in crease, and a whole load of other variables.

My best recommendation would be to read as much as you can about your G0 Q6600 and P45.
This is a good guide for OC'ing Core 2 Quads, and should be helpful.

If you need any help, just drop me a line.

PS, just for informational purposes. My Q6600 idles at about 26-29 deg C, and at load would go to about 48+ depending on which game I'm playing.
