Hi,
I have an P8P67 PRO MB, 2x2GB Corsair RAM, 4580 VGA, i5-2500k CPU and an ~4 years old 320GB Samsung HDD.
I believe it first happened after I changed to new MB, RAM and CPU. I thought, that it might be windows 7 64 bit problem with drivers, so I reinstalled windows, but still I get this freeze sometime. It usually happens on higher PC activity like games. Only mouse seem to move if in desktop, but everything stops. And HDD LED starts blinking like insane.
it is really frustrating when this happens during online games. PC freezes for ~1min. Then everything starts to work normal again. I tried prime to check my RAM, but after ~1h nothing bad was spotted, so i started to thing that is HDD fault.

Does anyone have any ideas on this topic?
Thanks,
Martin

Disk was defragmented not so while ago, so I doubt thats fragmentation fault.
I believe I had indexing disabled because it isn't checked in optional features window.

Thanks for reply.
Is SmartDefrag_Startup is what I should look for?
I don't see any other defrags in Task Scheduler.

Disabled defragment shedule. But it was set to go at wednesday 1:00 AM. So I don't know if it was it's fault. I had the same freeze just minutes ago, before turning shedule off, though. I will update this thread if I experience freeze again.

Still keeps happening. Seems to be even more frequently (~2 times / day).
Any other ideas, to who might be causing this?

When this intense HDD activity happens, I'm happy if I can even move the mouse, nothing works, so I can't go and see who's using my HDD.

I have the same problem as you and i have the exact same mobo. I think there maybe a fault with them. Are you using the Sata 3 Ports?

Hi, sd01, I was using one of those light blue SATA ports, I can't remember which ones are 3.0 though. I bought Seagate Momentus XT hybrid 500GB HDD and currently have it connected to the same port. So far so good, haven't experienced any freezes.

I'm glad your problem has been sorted. Unfortunately for me, I installed a brand new SSD with the board and that seems to be fine.
