I failed to state the mobo I will be using to oc the 3000 939, it is a gigabyte k8nf-9

I have only been into pc's for 4 years, but I am still learning, I am on my 4th build, an athlon 64 system, I feel hopelessly addicted to builds..

And why haven't you go better RAM yet?
Why pay more for a few percent in some benchmarks?
Do you think a 3800+ and 1 Gigs of DDR400 (CL2.5) is not enough for me?

Seriously, I'm not a benchmark freak, I want the best price/performance ratio. And this set of cheap Infineon DDR400 512Megs stick are worth all dollars I spent on them.

At the time, I bought my rig, these memory stick were 50% cheaper than Brand Name. With the money saved, I got a 3200+ instead of 3000+ and a second 160Gigs HDD.

Humm... Sorry! I'm basically a French speaking person and I don't exactly understand the meaning of your last reply?

Do you mean, I should get brand-name ram to be cool/in?

Isn't cool to laugh at all those guys who wasted their money on l33t RAM sticks to score a few percent more in benchmarks than me!

Say I can still get some Micron -5B C sticks here, do they still clock as well as I remember they did? (like 2.5-2-2-7 at ~240MHz or so?)

Hilarious!!!

Hearing people who pump their ego with memory sticks! Well, Man is a mysterious creature.

Stop wasting keyboards clicks, I'm not one who will care about your pieces of silicon and electronics!

Peace!

Somebody please tell me I am seeing things!! Please tell me that I did not just read this comment on a forum dedicated SOLEY to the discussion of computer hardware and electronics. Rod you are on this site alot, you post here alot, I don't understand? Are you trying to make fun of the fact that wusy is a "computer geek"? If this is the case I would like you to take another look at the demographic of your readers... we are ALL computer geeks. My wife doesn't laugh at me on a daily basis for no reason. We are all here to read about computers... this is what we do. Think before you write next time... and if you are going to flame someone on here then in the future please use an insult that doesn't encompass yourself.

I think you took my comment too seriously! I was a bit sarcastic.

I do really care about Computer technology. It is why I post here and read a lot about this. But, I'm not the kind of Geek who will buy OCZ ram just to get a few percent more in benchmarks.

I want the best my money can buy. As I said before, I choose to get "no-name" Infenion based RAM to buy a 160Gigs HDD and upgrade my 3000+ to 3200+ at no cost. I got more for my money, but this is applicable to myself only. Another geek would have prefered OCZ RAM.

There is no point to come to me to show big balls, I would not care much. In comparison : I prefer Impreza WRX over Porsche's or BMW's, because I personnaly thinks that Impreza offers a lot more for money.

In the same way, X850 PE and 6800 Ultra are useless for me.

Hmmm wonder if those two both use the same chip revisions wusy. I heard the Ballistix uses 5B -G chips as opposed to the -C chips. I'm sure the PCB design has more than a little to do with overclocking as well.

So what's the overall thoughts about this? Should I get some Micron stuff for ~$130/1GB or go with some Corsair/Kingston/OCZ Value (not VX though) for ~$110?

No, I'm just talking about Crucial sticks. They're pretty much value RAM as well, but do come with those chips.

I'm kinda caught between spending the money on a 512MB stick of higher end RAM or 2x512MB of lower end stuff. The idea is to pick up something that is both cheap but can overclock half decently. This OCZ PC4000 stuff sucks for A64 overclocking.

Indeed. I've gotta get rid of that crapper. So I need some options.

I don't personally have that DFI board, but the best OCs that I've seen were using single sticks of RAM. If you want a full gig, then I'd suggest going single stick with your preferred chips - TCCD, -5B G or UTT. If you want to save some money, then your best bet is the OCZ Value VX...

Yeah, it's pretty damn hard to find 1GB sticks with those chips on them. But I'll probably end up picking up some of that ValueVX stuff.

Thanks for the heads up.
