new to OC'ing I would like start learning about it. I'm a absoult noob to this!
What should I start reading to get started and how do I figure out what the defination of things like this mean HTT ?
what I have is
AMD 64 4000+ s939
Zalman 9500
ASRock 939DUAL SATAII
OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Platinum
74gWD Raptor
cooler master case
I read in one of the forums here that 2.6 or 2.7 was a fairly safe limit for this cpu does this sound ok?
if so how do I get there without smoking things?
TIA!

I have overclocked one of these before. Unfortunately mine does not like high FSB... 🙁

I have my FSB set to 253 (x11.5) for a total 2.9GHz
vcore is 1.6

would a different motherboard be a happier combination???

Also is there a program simular to the Asus probe on my old pc? something to monitor the temps and so on with?
TIA!!

I have a 4000+ and just over clocked it to 2.62 ...runs idle at 28' c.(with 5 fans in my big tower) and never goes over 40 c when playing counter strike source...alls you have to do is go in the bios, and there should be a very simple option depending on your motherboard to over clock , then just watch the temps, make sure they dont go too high..simple.

I set my CPU frequency to 245MHz with a x12 multiplier at 1.55v. Set the HT multiplier to x4 and kept my XMS at DDR400 (ends up at 490MHz after the OC) This was the fasted speed I could get at prime95 stable, although I was running at 3.0GHz for about a week but it would crash if I left it on for more than a day or two (I like to keep my PC running for my torrents)
