[SOLVED] OCing 8700k (delidded + conductonaut) on Asrock z390 Extreme4

Hey peeps, been a while since I've done my last 'best possible' oc (back in the haswell days) and it's my first time using an Asrock board, so things are a little bit off for me (was constantly using Gigabyte up to this point).
I've got the 8700k and board back in 2018 and after delidding it I went on and just auto'ed everything, set LLC to level 3 and hit the 50 all core. Worked fine for a while but after around 6 months I (during the summer of 2019, so heat was probably the culprit) I'd start getting bluescreens, so I dialed it down to a 4.8Ghz, which has been running up to now autoed on 1.35v according to hwmonitor.

I decided today is the day to start understanding the Asrock bios and as far as I could find ocing guides for my board or the taichi online, they're kind of extremely shallow/basic, and I'd love if anyone can share any tips for ocing on this board.

My current (hopefully stable as I've been running Aida64 CPU+memory stress for about half an hour now) OC is still at 4.8 all core, 1.225v with LLC level 3 (HWMonitor shows it bumping to around 1.332-1.335 constantly and peaking at around 1.35 on every core) with temps ranging from the high 50s to 70C and peaking at 75. I know there's still more head room, but if I can get some tips or advice to what else I can play with (in terms of the CPU, I'll play around with memory later) other than CPU voltage and LLC level to max out this CPU, it would be great!

Specs: 8700K Delidded (cryonaut between die and IHS and mx4 to cooler)
Deepcool Captain EX240 with Corsair HD120s on it (clearly not the best cooling solution but it does the job well enough for now, as I don't have the budget to upgrade)
Asrock Extreme4 Z390
G Skill 2x8gb 3600Mhz CL17
Palit GTX 1080 Super Jetstream
Define R6 (front 3xCorsair HD120, top rad with 2xHD120s in push)

Yea, I understand that 1.45v might be too much vcore but I'm not talking vcore I'm talking VID.
I think that I just don't need to look at that because it's a rating that's irrelevant to overclocking, or am I wrong and VID is a measurement that's necessary?

My understanding of it is that it's a voltage table that the motherboard references in order to supply enough voltage to the CPU, but VCORE is the absolute value that's actually being supplied.

Thing is - VID is changing when I change vcore, so should I look at it at all or not?

I'm not sure if it's on Asrock or the tracking program's reading, but everything's really weird:

5GHz and 4.8GHz avx looks like it could work. You could be lucky and not require any more vcore.

I've tried 5.0 and 4.8 avx with 1.25v vcore and aida64 (avx) seems to run perfectly fine with no issues whatsoever.
Prime95 though is a different story. Went up to 1.35v vcore(which gives me around 1.45v on hwmonitor) and it still keeps crashing quite instantly, for all 3 preconfigured tests.
Any idea on how to adjust to that?

EDIT:
Also just tried reverting to 4.8 all core no avx offset 1.225v vcore and it looks like prime runs fine on very short runs (I know that this isn't a complete tell unless I ran it for like a day) and doesn't crash instantly. Might keep it at 4.8 for now as I don't have a need to go faster generally, but it would be nice to have the option.

You have 1.25 volts vcore in BIOS and when you run prime 95 it goes up to 1.45volts vcore? That's a hell of a lot of extra voltage. Voltage should vdroop down on a lower LLC setting. Check that you are in manual mode in BIOS for vcore. Check VRM temps in HWInfo64 as well as cpu temps.

I think you misread me - vcore went to 1.45v when I was at 1.35 with LLC level 1.
I'm gonna do more stress tests tomorrow with hwinfo, might be more accurate. I really don't know what's going on with the LLC settings as it looks like CPU-Z shows one thing which is not according to the bios setting (1.215v vcore right now even though it's set to 1.225v) hwmonitor shows 1.25v llc/ring voltage and 1.215v as well for vcore and vid 1.3-1.35v per core

Maybe I'm just looking on the settings there wrong or mistaken one thing for another

I think you misread me - vcore went to 1.45v when I was at 1.35 with LLC level 1.

Asrock motherboard the LLC 1 is the top LLC if I remember correctly. It's mostly for bench runs and extreme cooling. 1.45 volts load is too much vcore for the 8700k. I would reduce your LLC and see what vcore your cpu needs to stay stable. Having 1.45 volts will also add lots of heat both to the vrms and cpu.

You can ignore VID. I would set the LLC in the middle. 1.264 vcore vdroop to 1.13v-1.2v under a heavy load and still stable? Sounds unbelievable., considering the table implies 1.4v vcore for 4.8GHz with avx.

I know, I don't believe it either, that's why I think there's a weird misreading issue between the monitoring software and the bios or something. For starters - seems like whatever I set the vcore to in the bios is read at a -0.03v offset with any LLC level.

Right now it seems stable at 5Ghz and 4.8AVX, 1.375 vcore which reads to 1.34v vcore via cpu-z and droops to 1.27-1.3v ish via hwinfo at LLC level 5

I really don't know what reading to believe

Right now it seems stable at 5Ghz and 4.8AVX, 1.375 vcore which reads to 1.34v vcore via cpu-z and droops to 1.27-1.3v ish via hwinfo at LLC level 5

I really don't know what reading to believe

LLC level 5 is the lowest I believe on asroak boards, so it should vdroop that low. Sounds like you can overclock further.

Was stable until I ran prime95 which crashed after about 5 minutes.

Went back to 4.8 all cores 4.8 avx 4.4 ring 1.25v LLC level 3
Ran prime for 15 minutes and saw 1.18v-1.23v vcore. What's strange is that when I'm idling it's flat at 1.23v

Hopefully this'll be good enough and whenever I decide to go for higher clocks I'll just adjust accordingly

VRM temps seem okay and cpu temps are also good enough for me (around 40c idle with all fans running at around 900-1000rpm so almost silent) and around 65-70c on heavy synthetic load

I won't run a stress test to see if I was stable. If I was I would look to increase the frequency on the cores.
