Hey guys,

I've got an older card for an AGP system that I've been trying to bring up to workig order. As the situation stands, I'm not going to drop any more then a few bucks on bringing the system into solid working order so I'll have to do with what I've got right now, which still should be enough.

P4 2.53ghz (478)
1GB of DDR
Geforce FX5700LE

The system runs fairly fast so I'm assuming the weak point other then a low FSB, is the Video Card itself. The LE version of the 5700 is fairly crippled, but the clock speeds can really be bumped up.

NOTE: My card is the 128-Bit not 64-Bit of the 5700LE, it certainly helps.

Core Clock: 225mhz >> 365mhz. I get artificating after a couple hours of play at 375mhz, so I pulled it back a bit.

Memory Clock: 400mhz >> 500mhz. Same thing I can get it running stable at 508mhz, but doesnt give me a noticeable jump in performance, and I'd prefer some head room.

My FPS in CS:Source has jumped about 50% from about 32FPS on 1024/High/NoAA to 45FPS, quite noticeable although I'd really like to try and get it to about 50-55FPS which would be the sweet spot.

At this point I'm not sure if the Clock Speeds are hurting performance or more likely, only having 4 Pixel Pipelines.

That said the 5700Ultra is clocked at 475mhz and so it would be nice to hit that for sure, although the current cards fan is most likely too week, and fairly shoddily applied. I've got some extra heatsinks on card covering a fair bit of the board although, that hasn't helped me boost things up.

Anyone else with a FX5700 or LE version that can hop in with some OC'ing scores or advice?

And yes I know the card is outdated, but plays CS:Source relatively fine and BF2, so figure I'll OC it for now to get a second playable computer :)

<$10.00

I mean just like Heatsinks & Cooler, stuff that I can use on my other VideoCards when I need them.

And on that Subject, I plan on picking up some Heatsinks from Newegg or Tigerdirect for a few bucks to throw on the memory to help boost it up from 500mhz to perhaps 600mhz, are the simple heatsinks available for sale really all that helpful?

And in the same line any good suggestions on a GPU cooler since the current GPU cooler is junk, very shoddily attatched and I'm sure I can move up from 365mhz to perhaps 375mhz if I can just cool it better.

does your memory artifact past 500 mhz? if so your not gonna get another 100 mhz maybe 10 or 15, same with a new heatsink on the core. i think ive seen volt mods just go google it. Peace.

Oops well didn't update this since I was mentioning it at Overclock.net BUT

Here goes.

I attached a simple 90MM fan to the Videocard and that really helped cool things down, I've kept the memory down load (can't recall ont he spot), but I got the core up significantly higher from 375mhz to a stable 435mhz (Yep cooling helped get it up 60mhz).

FPS in CS:S is about where I wanted it at 50fps at 1024/noaa, and although I'm sure I could Volt Mod it or perhaps change the BIOS a bit the performance seems fine for what the card is worth :)
