So i just built a brand new computer tonight..
I want to OC its CPU from 2.2 to 2.8Ghz...

It is idling at 27 degrees with my fans/arctic 7 freezer pro heatsink...

I don't think that heat will be at all a problem...
So...here are my specs:

Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad processor
Gigabyte EP45 UD3P ( good for OC )
Corsair 2x2Gb at 800mhz
eVGA 9800GTX+
seagate 250gm
Windows Vista 32bit
750Watt PS from Corsair

I want to know what to change to get my cpu up to 2.8 ghz...
I know how to get to the bios tweaker options on my gigabyte mobo, but I dont know what to change..
should i increase the multiplyer or the frequency?

I din't know the q6600 run on 2.2Ghz. Anyways, go for an even 3Ghz. That CPU can take a lot of punishment. I know of ppl running 3Ghz 24/7 for 1 year and more. Go for it, you'll notice great performance increase (at least in games)

Check temperatures properly before pushing it too far. Use Realtemp or coretemp, not the BIOS utilities.

Do you really need to OC it? Is the new build not doing you justice right now? lol

Sorry for not answering your question.

It does me plenty of justice haha, specially since its an upgrade from a Athlon 3400+, 1 gb ram, and 7800GS gfx card....

but I want to be able to basically max out the settings on GTA4 for PC, so the OCing was necessary. I got it running quite stable and well at 3.0Ghz and 2.00D ram ratio. Loving it.
