Your title suggests you are considering a Rift. On their website they have a downloadable compatibility checker which will give you an idea of what your equipment is up to. Rift requires 3 USB ports of its own.
If the checker says you have problems and / or you don't have enough ports then I can recommend Inateck USB - PCI expansion cards. I had issues running my rift until I got such a card and now works like a charm!
