Oculus rift with 60hz monitor vs 144hz monitor ? how does it work ?

so i wanted to buy a gtx 980 ti sli and i currently have a 144hz monitor (1080p)


i was wondering how does oculus rift work ? since my monitor is 144hz i cannot connect the HDMI cable to it , so if i connect the display port or dvi , will oculus rift work ? can someone explain to me how does it work and how should i connect it ? and if i use it then my monitor wont work or what ?

also why the hell does it have a xbox one controller with it if i want to use it with pc ?

xbox one controller works with Windows PC.

HDMI 1.4 can still handle 90FPS 1080P, but can't quite handle 120FPS 1080P.
When you are wearing the set you will see the game at up to 90FPS across HDMI.

You might be able to change your monitor refresh rate to 90Hz if you want the same refresh rate as the headset.

how should i connect oculus to pc ? does it have a like HDMI cable ? what's in the package ? does it have a DVI and displayport ?
also what is the refresh rate of oculus rift ? 144hz ?

90Hz max on the Oculus Rift headset and it comes with HDMI cables.

GTX 980 Ti supports up to HDMI 2.0 from memory, and the Oculus Rift has a HDMI cable with it. Your monitor is probably new so it should support at least HDMI 1.4.

You shouldn't have to change the refresh rate on your monitor at all. Its just an option.

my monitor ?! i think you connect the hdmi cable from the vga to the oculus rift right ?
