I got a new GPU, the Nvidia EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0. I tried connecting it to my powersupply, the ocz modstream 700, but it does not have the right cables. It only has two cables:

1) 8pin PSU to 6+2pin GPU 2) 8pin PSU to 6pin GPU

My gtx 1070 needs 2 8pin connectors to work, so with my current cables it, as expected, gave the error: "Please power down and connect the PCI-e power cable(s) for this graphic card".

As a solution, I bought a converter (6pin female to 8pin male) so I could convert my: cable from 2), to a 8pin psu to 6pin to 8pin gpu cable. I was wondering if this would give any power problems in the long run, when I am running high-end games. I would also like to know if this set-up gives the same amount of power as two seperate 8pin to 8pin cables.

Thanks!

That hunk of junk isn't good for 500W, let alone for 700! Get yourself a Seasonic G 550 or EVGA G2 550, they are fairly cheap and will power a single 1070 with any CPU out there (except maybe an overclocked FX9590)
