Has anyone tried this drive on this mobo? Today was my birthday and one of my bro's gave me this for my present. I will put this on my computer soon and with my upcoming new Rocketfish 900 PSU, my computer gets upgraded.

I also have a $50 Best Buy card so I could choose to buy a new GPU or a I5 2400 to kick off my new sig rig

An older SSD on an older mobo: should be ok. Enable AHCI for SATA, if possible. TRIM may not work. Get Garbage Collector from OCZ.

The specs on Vertex Plus are only: 250MBps reads, 160MBps writes.

Still, this are better than any hard drive.

It works perfectly without changing any BIOS settings. I just had to figure out how to get to see it on Windows. Once I did it went smoothly. Beeping to bootup feels much under 30 seconds. My 500 GB is now a data drive.

The next step in the pc upgrade is my Rocketfish 900 PSU then I can decide whether to just get a PSU or get a I5 2400 on Best Buy to start the new sig rig upgrade. I got a $50 Best Buy card yesterday

Just my 2 cents; stay away from Rocket Fish there are quality & reliable brands out there for the same money. Corsair, Cooler Master, Sea Sonic, Thermal Take to name a few. I have a friend that works LP @ Best Buy & I will leave it open to interpretation ;)

That motherboard is Socket 775, so an i5-2400 (Socket 1155) processor won't fit. What processor do you have now?
